Networx3 commercial director Caroline Earnshaw is blazing a trail – as one of the few female qualified drone pilots in the UK.

The Civil Aviation Authority awarded Caroline her Permission for Commercial Operations (PfCO) earlier this year allowing her to fly drones for commercial work.

She joins a small but growing cohort of women pilots using their flying skills in the business, media and humanitarian sectors.

Caroline will be using Networx3’s fleet of five drones to undertake inspections, providing security and safety work for clients.

She said: “I really enjoy flying our drones. It’s exciting, nerve wracking and it’s also a big responsibility but the level of detail and data we can get from using drones for client work is fantastic.

“We work in a lot of dangerous environments; sending people up towers and into isolated places, inspecting difficult to reach areas. Drones help us to either prevent people working in those environments or we use our drones as a back-up and a support mechanism for the team on the ground.

“Drones are just an extra string to our bow at Networx3.”

Caroline is one of five commercial pilots at Networx3 who cover the UK for client work.
